About Ms. Fouts

Hello!  My name is Julie Fouts.  This will be my third year teaching at Ventana Vista.  I am very excited to work in such a beautiful and inspiring setting.

I grew up in a small town in Ohio.  I always enjoyed playing and using my imagination.  I always loved drawing as a child, but really found my love art in High School.  My Art teacher really encouraged me to go to art school.  I worked hard on my porfolio and submitted it to The Columbus College of Art and Design.  I was accepted!  I graduated in 2002 with a Bachelors in Fine Arts.  My focus was sculpture and paintings.  After college I knew I wanted more.  I always loved helping my art teacher.  I really respected how she saw something in me and wanted to inspire that.  I decided to try out being a teacher.  I started subbing and the first job I got was for a kindergarten art class.  I came home covered in marker and glitter , looked at my fiance (at the time) and smiled and knew this was for me!  While getting a second degree for education from Ashland University, I planned my wedding.  I married Scott in 2004.  After graduating from Ashland University I got a job at a small private college prep school called Southern Hills Academy.  I taught K-10th grade art.  We created many wonderful pieces of art. In 2006 my husband and I decided we had had enough of winter and decided to move west. I got a job offer before I left the state! I started working in Sunnyside School District on the south side of Tucson. I worked at two schools for the seven years I taught there: Santa Clara Elementary and Gallego Elementary.  Both are great schools.  I knew and felt I was ready for a change and am very happy I get to start a new chapter of my teaching career at Ventana Vista!

When I am not teaching, I enjoying spending time with my family.  I have a beautiful and energetic five year old  named Ava and a handsome husband.  When Im not teaching or sewing fun clothing, I am running.  I am currently trainning for my first half marathon!
